AMERICOM Goverment Services

Agency
National Aeronautical and Space Administration

Mission
To understand and protect our planet through the public space program of the United States, through long term civilian and military aerospace research.

Challenge
Coordination of research among disparate research facilities and better sharing of information discovered about our solar system and beyond with the public. In particular, NASA needed a more efficient channel for video feed distribution, which NASA uses for ongoing scientific analysis, educational initiatives and distribution to news media outlets.

Solution
Throughout its history, NASA has conducted or funded research that has led to numerous improvements to life here on Earth. To further these efforts and communicate the excitement of space exploration to the public, NASA needed to upgrade its satellite distribution capabilities. To make this happen NASA awarded a contract to AMERICOM Government Services (AGS) and Marshall Communications, its partner in supporting NASA.

National Aeronautical and Space Administration

Throughout its history, NASA has conducted or funded research that has led to numerous improvements to life here on Earth.

As the prime contractor for the satellite support portion of the contract, Marshall Communications turned to AMERICOM Government Services to provide the entire end-to-end network solution, including uplink to ground stations as well as downlink reception. AGS also broadcasts NASA TV, transitioning it from a single analog channel to multiple digital channels.

"AGS was the hands-down choice for the NASA contract because of its high-quality, reliable satcom services. The company has an extensive satellite fleet, in-depth knowledge of the government market and expertise in every aspect of satcom networks," said Sonny Marshall, President and CEO of Marshall. "A long-time and valued partner of Marshall Communications, AGS has demonstrated that working together we can deliver on what we promise."

NASA utilizes AGS' satellite services to provide Space Shuttle video feed during pre-launch, launch and re-entry. Communications are broadcast to NASA Flight Centers across the country, including Marshall, Kennedy, Goddard, White Sands and Johnson.
